Fir Ridge Counselor’s Choice Awards

The David Douglas Educational Foundation and FR Moore/Parker each established an endowment allowing funds to be available for two graduating seniors from the Fir Ridge Campus, David Douglas High School to continue their education.  This is just one of the many ways DDEF is providing special support to students of the David Douglas School District.

Scholarship Amount - 1 @ $1,000 & 1 @ $500


The Scholarship:

  • One (1) $1,000 DDEF FR scholarship

  • One (1) $500 FR Moore/Parker scholarship

Requirements:

  1. Must currently attend Fir Ridge and be a graduating senior.

  2. Must plan to attend an accredited 2 or 4-year college or vocational/trade school.

SCORING BASED ON:

  1. Recipient will have been judged by the counselor to determine need.

  2. Recipient will have demonstrated initiative and a desire to continue their education.

  3. Counselor will have judged the recipient to have the ability to succeed at a higher level of education when given the opportunity.

Counselor’s choice:

1.      The David Douglas Fir Ridge counselors, will select students to be considered for the DDEF & FR Moore/Parker Counselor’s Choice Awards. 

2.      The recommended students will have met the criteria and requirements listed above.  No application is required. 

3.      The recipient of the scholarship will be selected by a team of:   two (2) counselors,

one (1) administrator, one (1) teacher and the College and Career coordinator.

Payment:

  1.  Recipient will have one year from date of award to submit a request for payment.

  2. Recipient will provide evidence of enrollment to a qualifying institution to: Beverly Fischer, DDEF President, at fischerb310@gmail.

  3. Payment will be made by check to the qualifying institution after a copy of the tuition statement has been received.

  4. It is the responsibility of the recipient to request when that payment is to be made.
