DDEF Grant Helps DDHS Students Attend Annual HOSA Conference
ddef GRANT SUPPORTS HOSA STUDENTS
A recent DDEF Grant helped fund David Douglas students attending the HOSA Conference. HOSA is an internationally recognized Career and Technical Student Organization. It provides opportunities for students who want to pursue a health field career get hands on experience and be able to compete with their peers at the regional and international levels.
David Douglas HOSA Advisor, Becky Karki reported:
“For the third year, our HOSA team represented David Douglas High School, and East County, so well! We were able to take 25 students to the conference this year. Congratulations to the following members who were recognized at SLC!
Those who placed top 3 in their event have a spot at the International Leadership Conference to represent the state of Oregon -- this year in Nashville, TN! Our Public Service Announcement group and Creative Problem Solving group were able to attend this in June 2025 and represented Oregon well.
We only had three seniors last year — Ailing is at University of Portland pursuing nursing. Kiara is at Yale studying science and Alketa is either at Berkeley or University of Oregon going into medicine (she hadn’t decided at the end of last year when I saw her). They are an exceptional bunch!!”
