Walter E. Dillon Scholarship

Mr. Walter E. Dillon retired from his position as Assistant Superintendent of David Douglas Schools, where he devoted many years of service.  In their Wills, Mr. and Mrs. Dillon left a sum of money to be used for a graduating senior to pursue a college education.  An annual scholarship will be awarded, as a one-time grant, to a successful applicant who excels at David Douglas High School in athletics and academics.

IMPORTANT SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS

You must submit your scholarship while logged into gmail or google with your personal gmail/google account (not your student login) as follows:

1.     At school, come to the Career Center or use the computers in the library to submit your application using your personal google/gmail account.

2.     Whether at school or at home, press the Submit button. 

3.     If you are not logged into gmail or google, the usual google login will display.  Login with your personal google/gmail account (not your student login).

4.     Proceed by filling in the Scholarships Application Submission form and then upload your filled-in application and any required attachments. Once uploaded, you are returned to the Scholarships Application Submission form.  Press the Submit button.


SELECTION REQUIREMENTS/CRITERIA

  • Applicant must have a GPA of no less than 3.0.

  • Applicant must have completed at least two sports seasons during the time he/she was a student at David Douglas High School; however, participation in athletics at the college level is not a requirement.

  • Attach letters of recommendation from at least one teacher or one counselor or administrator and one coach.

  • Must plan to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year college/university.

  • Financial need is not a consideration for selection.

Applicants will be judged by a scholarship committee and they reserve the right to withhold the scholarship if none of the applicants meets the criteria.

Payment:

  1. Recipient will have one year from date of award to submit a request for payment.

  2. Recipient will provide evidence of enrollment to a qualifying institution to: Beverly Fischer, DDEF President, at fischerb310@gmail.

  3. Payment will be by check in the name of the qualifying institution.

  4. It is the responsibility of the recipient to request when that payment is to be made.
