2nd Round of Donations for District Food Banks Distributed

Thank you to all of our amazing donors who have made our COVID-19 fundraiser such a success! To date, we have currently raised $12,560 and with DDEF matching funds of $10,000, a total of $22,560 has been distributed to food banks in our school district to help our families!

Thanks to the donation from DDEF, David Douglas High School has been able to support more families with rental, utility and food services. These dollars went towards getting families access to soap, cleaning supplies and feminine hygiene supplies. This donation made it possible to support five families who have been out of work due to COVID-19 with rental/utility assistance.

This week, an additional $10,110 was distributed to our 4 school district food banks. The impact of donations has been enormous! One food pantry site, Cherry Park Elementary, was frequently running out of food boxes and had some families leave empty handed. They have now been able to receive two vans of food boxes, instead of just one, and are no longer having to turn anyone away!

Thank you so much for the donation, it’s such a huge help. This week we were able to purchase some beautiful fresh chard and kale from Sauvie Island growers for the food boxes going out tomorrow, as well as some supplemental dry goods to make sure our food boxes are balanced nutritionally. This ensures your families are getting the best fresh food, and we are able to support our local farmers who are really struggling to move through the crops they planted for this season.
