OMSI - Bringing Science to David Douglas Elementary Students
DD Elementary Students Say: “Science is Fun!”
Due to DDSD budget constraints, DDEF stepped up to fund OMSI’s elementary science program at the David Douglas School District for the 2025-26 school year.
Each David Douglas elementary school hosted a one-hour OMSI science assembly for grades K–2 and a separate one-hour assembly for grades 3–5. In addition, each 2nd and 3rd grade classroom received a one-hour, hands-on science lesson delivered by OMSI staff. Over 600 2nd and 3rd grade students received the hands-on science lesson and nearly 4,000 students participated in the OMSI assemblies!
Cherry Park students sent thank you notes to DDEF for the program. Here is what some students said:
“Your science was really cool. Thank you for the opportunity for letting us do amazing very cool things. You guys are so awesome!”
“Thank you for paying for OMSI to visit us! Another thing I’m thankful for is that you trust us to do science! The last thing I’m thankful for is you let us have fun!”
“Thank you for bringing OMSI to our school. Letting us do static electricity for a half an hour was so much fun. Thanks for making us scientists.”
“Thank you for letting us have an OMSI lesson and have hands on learning. And thank you for letting us have the OMSI assembly. Thank you for letting us learn about electricity and circuits. And thank you for letting us have fun.”
“Thank you for letting us have science and trusting us a lot to do an experiment with circuits, battery, and equipment and more. Thank you for lots of reasons and thank you for your support. You are all nice.”
