2026-27 Spring Grants

2026-27 Spring Grants Awarded

Each spring, David Douglas Educational Foundation invites school district employees to submit requests for DDEF-funded Spring Grants for the following school year.  The grants are reviewed to identify if they meet grant requirements and funding availability. They are then awarded according to this criteria.

Spring Grants (formerly called Teacher Grants) are funded by the DDEF General Fund through fundraisers and individual donations. They have been awarded annually since before 2000.

This year’s Spring Grant awards were finalized at the May 2026 DDEF Board Meeting and grants totaling over $11,500 were approved for a variety of needs and schools as follows:

  • High School Golf program:  A set of golf clubs and golf balls for the High School.

  • *Ron Russell Middle School: Violins for the growing Ron Russell Middle School program.

  • High School Biology:  Headphones for the High School’s Biology classes. The headphones allow students to work independently, on-line, etc.

  • Special Education Assistive Technology:  To purchase two high-performance iPads for the writing program which serves 150 students who are supported by the Assistive Technology Department. The equipment will ensure the Assistive Technology specialist has access to current technology which can maintain a comprehensive library of secure, local backups of each student’s unique communication vocabulary. (The program is state-mandated but not state-funded.)

  • PE equipment for West Powellhurst:  To align with new Oregon PE standards.

  • High School Science Program:  Camcorders, scales, and headphones for the High School Science program.

  • *High School Orchestra:  A violin and Bass bows for the High School Orchestra program.

  • CTP/SP (Post-Secondary Special Education):  Espresso machine and warranty for CTP program at South Powellhurst which provides hands-on job training for the student-run coffee business.

  • *Floyd Light Middle School: Two violas for the Floyd Light music program.

  • Lincoln Park Elementary School: Bilingual Books for 4th and 5th grade. Dual language classroom books for 5th grade. Diverse tiered classroom library exceeds standard budgets.

* The violins and violas are needed to accommodate students’ differing size requirements.

DDEF is happy to again support the Spring Grant program, thanks to generous donors like you!
