What: No Scot Left Behind On-Line Fundraiser
When: February 1 – March 31, 2026
Funds raised to benefit students during the 2026-27 School Year
Who: David Douglas Educational Foundation (DDEF) and David Douglas High School (DDHS) are sponsoring a fundraiser to help David Douglas High School students participate in school activities and athletics when financial barriers prevent them from participating.
How: On-Line Donations to be accepted
between February 1 – March 31, 2026
on the DDEF website Event page.
Why: Reports across several states have found that participation in extracurricular activities reduces the probability of dropping out of school by 14–20 percentage points.
How are David Douglas High School Students Doing?
In the 2024/2025 school year, 100% of david douglas student athletes who completed a sport during their senior year, graduated on time! That is 144/144!
Other studies: A study found “Across multiple states and districts, students engaged in school athletics/activities graduate at ~97–99%, compared with ~88–94% for non-participants.” (MIT Press Direct)
In addition, there are significant personal and social benefits in extracurricular activity participation:
Increased confidence: Activities build self-confidence and a stronger sense of self.
Development of social skills: Students learn teamwork, cooperation, communication, and how to build meaningful relationships.
Leadership opportunities: Athletes and participants often develop leadership skills by making decisions and working with others toward a common goal.
Better physical and mental health: Regular physical activity improves physical fitness and has been shown to reduce stress and boost mood and cognitive function.
Improved academic performance: Participation is linked to higher grades, test scores, and attendance rates.
